Corick House and Flavour of Tyrone Good Food Circle partnered up to present
a Country and Western Supper and Dance on Saturday, 28th January
2006.
Yessurree! All trails led to the corale at Corick House,
Clogher and a variety of critters where tethered in the commodious
parking lot whilst the “hands” mossied on down
for a chuck wagon supper and cavorting for the evening.

Cowgirls/boys where greeted with a bottle of beer to whet the trail
dust from dry throats and those toting weapons checked them in before
admission to the themed Garden Suite. This was decorated with straw
bales, stars and stripes balloons and napkins and rounded off with
red gingham cloths and candles on the tables. A scattering of straw
over the floor set the scene. The guests entered into the spirit
of the evening by dressing the part and there were a fair scatting
of sequins as well as bootlace ties, denims, cowboy boots, chaps
and Stetsons galore! Yehaw!
The prize for best dressed cowgirl went to Mrs. Bernie Donnelly
and the cowboy was Malcolm from Belfast. Tony Kerr and his band
yodeled and crooned to authentic country ballads and the evening
went with a swing with the Texan 2-step and waltz being danced with
enthusiasm. The line dancing demonstration was a fantastic success
and performed with enthusiastic display of the art – indeed
some guests from a Belfast Country and Western Club joined in to
loud yahoos and applause.
Chow was served buffet style and a real chuck wagon supper of ribs,
burgers, bangers, beans and baked potatoes where devoured with relish
and was rounded off with home-made apple pie and cream. Running
true to the tradition of the House all the food was from local sources.
Supper over the dancers were well stoked with energy for more cavorting
until the wee small hours.
Mrs. Jean Beacom, the proprietor of this beautiful 17th century
country house welcomed all the guests and thanked them for their
support. This was Corick House first such event and as it was so
successful she announced that a further event would be held later
in the year and this would be to raise funds for the Renal Unit
Charity in which Jean is very much involved.
Corick House is justifiably renowned as a Wedding venue with over
100 weddings in a year. However, it can also be used for events
such as conferences, dinner/dances and private dinners for up to
200 guests.
The Storey Suite which is the new conservatory seats 150 guests
and has its own bar and access to the terrace and gardens. Corick
House is enhanced by its award winning Carleton Restaurant and the
facilities are complemented by the Blackwater Bar and it also boasts
12 luxury bedrooms. Jean is delighted to announce that planning
permission has been received and plans drawn up for the addition
of 10 further luxury bedrooms and these will be completed by June
2006. Truly a venue with a difference set in gorgeous countryside
of County Tyrone where a warm welcome awaits.
